Joel:

If a DAISY player, such as the Stream, Braille Plus, Icon, BookSense,
or Pocket has been approved by NLS to play its books, then a NLS user
in good standing can get a piece of software that is loaded onto the
player once, which authorizes that specific player to work with NLS
books. That software, which comes from the maker of the player, not
NLS, is generally called a key. The manufacturer of the player sends
you the key once he is told he can do so by NLS.
