[gui-talk] Blood pressure arm cuff sizes? (was Talking blood pressure and pulse devices?)

Hi Will,

Well, I saw in one of the several Amazon listings for the same talking
product (why so many, seemingly for the identical product, I have no idea)
that the medium cuff is 9. something inches to 14.2 inches. the large is for
14.2 to 17-something inches.

A neighbor with a tape measure just measured my upper arm about where the
cuff goes, with my arm held slightly bent, as they always do for the
reading. She got a circumference of 12.4 inches. So I guess I'm safely
within the medium category and don't have to think about that anymore.

By the way, as long as we're giving out our stats, I'm 5'8" tall and
currently weigh around 165. I was 20 pounds fatter until I spent a week in
the hospital, then broke my various snacking/overeating habits after
returning home. The heart problem doesn't exactly increase my appetite, to
put it a bit wryly. So now I'm at a healthier weight than I've been for
years. For all the good it does, what with having this very serious problem
that I didn't cause in the first place by overweight, cholesterol,
hypertension or smoking. "Idiopathic" cause, as the doctors say when they
can't find a specific cause for something like this. Now I'm researching all
the pros and cons of the ICD they want to implant in me. Mailing list forum
and all that.

Ack. Thanks for the support,
Joel

I am about 5'11' and a bit over 200 lbs. I required a large cuff by a
bit--about an inch over the top limit for the supplied medium cuff. I
suppose you could see if the supplied medium cuff would work for you. If
not you could order the large one later on.
