Hi,

certainly readers have there place.
But, as a profesor of mine put it "the paper interface is outof date" he went on
to say he wasn't going to have a text book for the class anything we could want
would be online.  That is fairly typical at Carnegie Mellon in the cs department.
Math on the other hand sometimes did have issues with textbooks I just used a 
reader for.
