[gui-talk] Winamp interrupted - 2

I finally figured that out by guesswork and noticing that the time was
moving along even though I wasn't hearing anything. Boy, I sure wish I knew
how the Jaws Say All command managed to do that! In the list of Winamp hot
keys for various tasks that I've got as a reference file, I don't see
anything under volume that includes pressing those keys. Well, as I said, if
anyone knows just how that Jaws say all command manages to turn off the
volume in Winamp, I'd love to hear, just out of curiosity. I did try to use
that key combo again as a toggle, but of course it didn't turn the volume
back on. I had to use the second thing you mention, below, ending with the
slash key. For 100 per cent. But I'll bet there's another Jaws command that,
although it's not meant to do anything of the sort, will also turn up the
Winamp volume, just as Say All turned it off. But I'd have to sit around
experimenting, and that doesn't sound like a good way to use my time.

Thanks.

it sounds like you inadvertantely turned the volume down all the way in
winamp. try pressing up arrow several times oar ALT+CTRL+/ from in the
winamp window.

Okay. I exited Winamp. I restarted my computer. When the system was up
again, I not only tried to play the file I'd been playing, but then tried
another one in the same folder. That didn't play, either, although it
appeared in the title line of Winamp as if it ought to play. I'm not logical
enough to infer whether this means I messed up Winamp by pressing those Jaws
command keys for Say All and need to repair it (how?) or uninstall and then
reinstall it.

I think I'll go listen to a downloaded NLS book on my NLS digital player. If
that still works. I'll check back to see if anyone's interested in my winamp
issue.
