[gui-talk] Image Captcha On Amazon.com Site?

I belong to a number of blindness-related technology lists, and in the past few days, some people have reported encountering image captchas on the Amazon.com site when they attempt to sign in to their accounts. I placed an order three days ago and did not encounter any image captchas myself, but I’m wondering whether anyone else has recently been confronted by an image captcha on the Amazon site. One person claims that he was confronted with an image captcha on the accessible Amazon.com site, which is supposed to be optimized for screen readers, and thus, should presumably be blind-friendly. And there is apparently no auddio challenge alternative to the image captcha,so unless you have Firefox with the Webvisum add-on, there is no way to solve it without sighted help. A few people have complained to Amazon about this issue, but have not yet received any responses. . If Amazon.com, the world’s largest online merchant, has, in fact, added an image captcha as part of its sign-in procedure, what , if anything, can be done to force them to remove it? I’m planning to do a lot of holiday shopping on Amazon, and the last thing I need is to be confronted by an image captcha to spoil my shopping experience.
