Dave,
I don't have JAWS available on my home computer to test this but I have
heard of this issue. It is possible that you'll need to upgrade to
version 18 of JAWS in order to use the latest version of Thunderbird as
I believe the latest update to version 18 addressed this issue. If this
is the case, it's not likely that version 17 will be incorporating this
fix. I think this happened when Thunderbird updated to one of its more
recent versions.
