Hi,

Personally, I like the humanware notetakers. The only ones I have had was
the braille note classic, braille note empower and the braille note apex.
The ones i bought--mmost of the used have text to speech. Currently, after
talking with Roger, the humanware dealer from Wisconsin, I like the sound
of the bix 40, i hope I am saying it right. I am not sure if it is windows
or android. I have not yet looked at it's manual. I understand that it has
basic note taking features, a calendar and a calculator. It is a braille
display mainly. I understand that it will have text to speech but the
software for the speech is not available yet. I do not want to buy anything
without being able to handle it before hand. It is my understanding that it
will be able to download bard books, bookshare and nfbnewsline. Hmm, maybe
it is only 32 cells. I like to keep my stuff a while so I am wondering
about the battery. I believe it has a propriptary battery. If that is the
case, I would personally have to think whether I want a notetaker/braille
display with speech. I believe rogers company is called accessible
information systems in jamesville, wisconsin. So there is a lot to consider
regarding ppersonal prefeences for these devices. My older 2 braille
notes--their batteries can be replaced by batteries but the apex has a
battery that is not replaceable anymmore at least to my knowledge. I have
never owned any of the braille displays that are made in Germany but I
understand they are well made devices. They do not have any speech on
them. Hope that helps a bit.
