Fellow Federationist: I am writing to update you on Senate action related to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. On Tuesday November 27, the Senate held a vote on a motion to proceed on the treaty. This motion was approved by a count of 61-36. However, the Senate has put the treaty aside for the time being to finish their work on the Defense Reauthorization bill. We believe that Senate action will be completed on the defense bill at sometime on Monday afternoon. I am asking you to call your Senators on Monday December 3, and urge them to bring the treaty to the flor after the defense bbill. We must tell our Senators, that the treaty is a disability issue, and we want their vote. You may be connected to the switchboard by calling 202-224-3121, or 866-727-4894. Thank you as always for your hard work. Please let me know if you have any questions. Jesse HartleNational Federation of the BlindGovernment Programs
