How did I miss this one? A very low-vision archer from Korea will be participating in the Olympics which officially opens tonight. This archer has already earned 2 gold metals in previous olympics and hopes to earn an individual gold this year. Though he can't see the well defined markings on the target, he sees splotches of color...he does not participate in any other sports. By only doing archery, he is able to finely tune his muscles to always do the same exact movements for repeated accuracy. This sport is sure to draw more attention with the recent overwhelming popularity of both the books and movies - "The Hunger Games". Archery is the major hunting method in this series, for those not familiar with the plot...Have any of you done any archery? I did a little back in the days of undergrad work in P.E. - I had a sighted assistant who coached me...I really loved it though I suspect I had more than a few people running out of my space!!! I also have 2 nephews that got involved in archery a number of years ago. Both competed semi-professionally and ranked as world class archers for their teen years. It's exciting to have someone at this caliber in the Olympics competing against those with normal vision . Dianne
