Greetings Everyone,

Not sure how many people have been following the status of the International disability rights treaty, but efforts are ramping up again. In the previous Vote last year, I believe Senator Roberts voted against the measure. When I last contacted his office on the item, the aid mentioned something regarding a concern for US sovereignty, as to why they refuse to support it.

Just to clarify, this item is a treaty. Treaties only require a Senate vote to accept. Senator Dole work hard to advocate on behalf of the treaty, but many Republicans still refused to pass it. This is despite many of our allies having adopted this treaty.

If you travel internationally, this treaty will benefit you, as it attempts to impose ADA style regulations within those who ratify the treaty. This enables all disabilities to enjoy as much of our world as possible.

Thank you for your assistance,
Timothy Hornik

> Sign the petition and let your voice be heard now for the disability treaty!
>
> December 4th last year was a devastating day when the disability treaty, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), lost by a mere five votes (Need a refresher? Read a Washington Post articlehere or watch John Stewart recount it here). This summer President Obama, Secretary Kerry, Senator McCain, former Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and the community have all expressed their desire to see the treaty ratified. When U.S. Senators return to their offices in DC, we are going to make sure that they know the treaty is important to the disability community and its allies and it is time to move it forward.
