Dear NFBK family

I am forwarding a status update from roasts loan in regard to the recent write in campaign in regard to the ice project. I wish to express my thanks to all those from Kansas who participated in encouraging the US department of labor to launch a responsible phaseout of section 14 C of the fair labor standards act. As a sidebar, if the administration decides to do this via executive order I suspect the sheltered workshops will launch a court fight. If they don't know it, they will learn quickly that we have an excellent team of lawyers on our side including Scott Labarre and Dan Goldstein who will no doubt give their lawyers a run for their money! Thanks again for your contributions to this very worthwhile endeavor.
Best regards,
Rob Tabor legislative director NFB of Kansas

> Thank you all so much for filling out the ICE form and writing letters to the committee directly. The commenting period is now closed. As a result of our efforts, over 200 letters were sent to the committee. Together, we are making our voices heard, and it is very likely that the responsible phase-out of Section 14(c) will be one of the recommendations of the WIOA advisory committee. The committee’s interim report is due out next month. I will update you all as soon as it comes out.

> The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
