Good morning Everyone,

I know several of you have iPhones. I don't know if you follow any email lists, so I will send this for information.

Susie

Good Morning,

Based on your question, the best bet is o just use the Health app that is apart of iOS 8. It provides you with a place to insert your medical history, track your steps, log any other health related information you wish, and its already counting your every step you take awhile your iPhone 5S is sitting in your hand, pocket, or purse.

Since purchasing my iPhone 6 several months ago, I have constantly used my iPhone 6 (which counts your steps and stances through the same features as your iPhone 5s) as my primary fitness tracker. I have used it on treadmills, walks, runs, ellipticals, stair climbers, and everything else. I can report that its margin of error is similar to that seen in every other Fitbit, iHealthlabs Activity tracker, and similar step counter and activity monitor out there. We even had a very long discussion on the accuracy of all of these devices and other accelerometers in a Gerontology class where we had a research who focuses on such devices to monitor health related outcomes. The truth of the matter is that none of these devices are perfect, and many f the differing results stems from personal reasons.

I only add this information to basically say that these devices are only intended to help you identify trends, rather than precise number of steps, distances traveled, calories consumed, calories spent, etc… None of these devices offers universal precision in these different pieces of data.

Hope this helps,
Tim
