>> I'm looking for 10 excellent NFB of Kansas members to show up at Saturday's convention lunch to get things started…this means all of you should R.S.V.P. because NFB of Kansas members have always been there when something meaningful needed to be done.
>> If you want to be reminded what a difference the NFB can make in someone's life, please read about Dr. Isabelle Grant in the October Braille Monitor. She attributes her quest for helping the blind around the world from her contact with the federation. In 1972 she won a Nobel Peace Prize! Maybe we as senior's may not have a "bucket list" to travel around the world in an effort to "change what it means to be blind", but we do want to remain as independent as possible and enjoy our lives. The positive message of the National Federation of the Blind can help do this and you can be the one that helps pass it forward.
>>
>> Now, why have I attached the words to the Bob Dillon song, "Times, They are a Changin"? Because his words and songs spoke to many of us in our youth…and here we are now senior's and his words still resinate. He, like Dr. Grant, will recieve a Nobel Peace Prize this year for literature. Though not blind, Dillon sang about the need for change and that it will happen…the NFB has always said things for the blind needed change, that is improvement in all aspects of our lives- that we no longer should accept second class treatment…

>> 1. a "peacesymbol" necklace - representing our on ongoing efforts to help move lives forward in the positive NFB way as "the times, they are a changin'", and
>> 2. a chance to win a $50. gift certificate to the Olive Garden! But only if we get 10 member's to get this division started Saturday, November 5th. So bring your $5. and energy to make a positive difference in the lives of the blind seniors of Kansas!
