The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is pleased to announce our next public
virtual verbal description tour for individuals who are blind or have low
vision!



These educator-led tours are conducted remotely over Zoom with verbal
description and conversation. Programs are accessible by web link and by
call-in phone number, depending on your preference. These programs take
place quarterly and are free with advance registration. Each program will
be offered twice.

there is information about additional opportunities for schools and
organizations and for Museum visitors.

Tuesday, June 15, 2:00-3:30pm ET or

Thursday, June 17, 5:30pm-7:00pm ET


Program Description:

What does a ship have to do with outer space? Discover *Intrepid*'s
connection to America's early ventures into space and what came next.
Through verbal description, oral histories and audio recordings, explore
the history and innovation of some of the early space capsule missions and
the space shuttle *Enterprise*.

Additional Opportunities Verbal Description Tours for Schools and
Organizations

Virtual and in-person verbal description programs are available for school
groups and organizations. Programs are free for New York City-based schools
and organizations.
These 60-90 minute customized programs feature sound effects and detailed
verbal descriptions of Museum spaces, artifacts and historic images.
Programs themes include, but are not limited to, Life at Sea, Aviation &
Aircraft, Space, and Transportation. A special focus on the temporary
exhibit *Navy Cakes: A Slice of History* is also available. All groups
receive pre-visit materials to help prepare for the program. Two-part
sessions are available by request.

The Intrepid Museum is now open to the public, Thursday to Sunday! Visitors
may borrow a Verbal Description and Tactile Guide with Talking Pen from the
Information Desk at no additional cost. The Museum’s new Mobile Guide also
includes descriptions of exhibits, historic spaces and wayfinding, along
with label text, videos and other content. The Mobile Guide can be accessed
on any smart phone, tablet or computer at this link

Visitors who are blind or have low vision may also request a customized
verbal description and touch tour with admission, at no additional cost,
with advance request. For more information, please email
