Good morning Kansas Federation family,

For the first time in the history of our proud affiliate we will conduct a hybrid caucus as a part of our national 2022 convention. The meeting is scheduled for this coming Friday evening, July 8 at 8:00 PM CDT.

As in recent past years, the purpose of the caucus is to consider the proposed resolutions and to advise our official voting delegate as to how to vote on the resolutions in the event of a state-by-state roll call. This year‘s convention has 19 draft resolutions which will be discussed by the national resolutions committee this afternoon at 1:00 PM. I hope you will take the time to listen in on the resolutions committee meeting, as this will help us all to get familiar with them. The resolutions have been published on the national website and may be found at

https://nfb.org/get-involved/national-convention/2022-resolutions

Needless to say, we will not have time to have the resolutions read word for word. Instead, each resolution will be summarized as we come to them. If there is a particular resolution that resonates with you, we will give you the opportunity to take the lead in summarizing it. For noncontroversial resolutions, we would like to do a Voice vote if we can. However if there are too many difficulties with vote counting in a hybrid format, we may find a necessary to conduct a roll call vote on each resolution, which, of course, will take more time.

In addition to the 19 resolutions, we will also be considering a proposed constitutional amendment pertaining to disciplinary sanctions against affiliates, chapters, divisions, and, most unfortunately, individual members and even, (can you believe this), outside parties not connected with a Federation. The full text of the proposed amendment is published in the June issue of the braille Monitor. Due to the length and excessive verbosity of this amendment, it would behoove you to study it and to understand it as best you can before the carcass.

Finally, as to the logistics of this hybrid meeting, look for follow up announcements containing Zoom links and, for those attending in person, an announcement as to the room where the on-site caucus will convene.

For those attending the convention, I hope you are all having an enjoyable time. Happy studying, and I look forward to connecting with you on Friday evening.

Best regards,
Rob Tabor | first vice president/legislative Director
