Cooper Hewitt Verbal Description Tour and Tactile Drawing
Workshop
Saturday, August 12, 2-4pm
Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (2 East 91 st Street, New York, NY 10128)

In collaboration with the NYPL Dimensions Lab
Join Cooper Hewitt for a verbal description and touch tour of their exhibition Give Me A Sign: The
Language of Symbols. Together, we will examine the fascinating histories behind many of the symbols
that instruct, protect, entertain, empower, and connect people, and discuss the ways visual and non-visual symbols show up in our daily lives.
After the tour, design your own symbol in a tactile drawing workshop! No previous experience with
tactile drawing needed.
