plans are a rip.  There appear to be so many false claims and so much false
advertising.

Hi Susan and All, 

I had a consultation with a medicare counselor from the senior center
yesterday.  My surgeon had to be the one to appeal and he tried over the
phone, "pier to pier" with Aetna's doctor and again in writing and it was
still denied.  As of April first, I will be switching back to medicare who
won't deny the surgery.  She said the advantage plans don't have everything
figured out and they offer a lot on paper but once they get you hooked in
they don't deliver what they promise.  I switched plans because Aetna
offered dental and I need new dentures.  I didn't think medicare would cover
those.  Of course, I didn't know that I would need another back surgery when
I made the switch.  Thank God it isn't too late to get back on original
medicare.  Update to follow.

I hope this decision is appealed with a vengeance! I'm sorry to say this but
I know too many people for whom the spine stimulator has been a big fat
waste of money, and these people are in continual pain that nobody seems to
know how to fix.

Hello NFBK Family,

My surgery didn't take place due to insurance denial.  I have contacted the
Lawrence Senior Resource Center and will be having a phone meeting with a
medicare counselor on Friday morning at eleven.  On Monday after learning
this distressing news, I contacted my insurance company and was told that
the surgery is still pending.  However, the nurse at my pain
specialist/surgeon's office says it was denied.  My doctor spoke with the
insurance doctor "pier to pier," and big brother insurance told him no.  He
wants me to try a pain stimulator which I am not a good candidate for.  In
my possession I have documentation from the cairopractor	 and
physical therapist which proves my having tried other alternatives.  My
primary care physician says it is up to the surgeon to make the appeal but
she will provide her xrays if necessary.  Continued prayers are greatly
appreciated Please!  I have restarted my medications but have no relief yet
as they will take a few days to come up to blood level in my system.  I have
been in this excruciating pain for almost four months.  Thank you all for
your prayers and support.

raising our activities and level of disability, particularly before the
Kansas legislature. in addition to myself as legislative Director and
president Tom Page as ex officio  member, your new legislative committee
members are Tom Anderson, Michael Nava, Bruce Roberds, Patricia Stillwell,
and Susan Tabor. Congratulations to each of those new members and welcome to
the committee.

I will be convening and meeting in the near future to determine strategies
and activities for the coming year.
