[Home-on-the-Range] Kansas Talking Books Descriptive Audio DVD Program

Hello, everyone. As I mentioned in the February 2024 meeting of the
Johnson-Wyandotte County Chapter of the NFB of Kansas, the State Library of
Kansas has a Talking Books Descriptive Audio DVD Program for blind or
visually impaired Kansas residents.

 

NOTE: You must have a DVD player or a computer with a DVD drive to
participate in this program. You will also need a sighted person who can use
a DVD movie's Setup menu to select "Audio Description" or "Descriptive Video
Service" or similar words.

 

If you are not a patron of Talking Books, register by calling 1-800-362-0699
(option 1). 

 

If you are a patron of Talking Books but not presently a descriptive video
user, call Natalia Renfro (Machine Clerk) at 1-620-341-6283 so you can start
receiving DVDs in the mail. 

 

The Kansas Talking Books Library has 195 movies to choose from. There is a
Word document attached to this email containing an order form that someone
can fill out for you, or you can call 1-800-362-0699 (option 1) to have a
librarian fill the form out for you. A Word document containing summaries of
the movies is also attached. You can receive a limit of two DVDs at a time
from what you selected on the order form. 

 

If someone filled out the order form for you, ask them to mail it to:

They can write "Free Matter for the Blind" on the envelope instead of paying
for postage.
