Hi everyone, 

Many of you know how much our tech and Braille programming has grown in the past few years. You may not know that, in addition to our online and in-person workshops, we provide about 160 hours per month of free one-to-one tech coaching to library patrons. We can only do all this because of our fabulous volunteers, who amplify our impact in an incredible way.

We are especially looking for volunteers who can help out with Braille Study Group in person on Saturdays from 10:30 to 12:30, even once or twice a month. This group is a low-key, informal gathering where Braille learners work on everything from the alphabet and reading/writing practice to special topics like Nemeth code and digital Braille. Volunteers need only be comfortable with literary Braille, patient and positive — we’ll teach you everything else you need to know. 

 

As always, we also welcomenew tech coaching volunteers, in person and online. Volunteers are paired with patrons for one-to-one coaching about the accessible use of phones, tablets, computers, and digital Braille displays. Volunteers who want to can also help to run workshops like our popular screen reader series, tech discussion groups, and showcases of accessible apps. 

If Braille and tech aren’t your jam, we also welcome volunteers who want to help with accessible art workshops like nonvisual drawing, origami, or any other craft a volunteer would like to introduce.
