Hello fellow Federationist,

The NFBKS Senior's division is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. On Tuesday, August 25th, 2026..

Topic: NFBKS Seniors Meeting.

Time: 7:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)

Every month on the Fourth Tuesday of every month.

We are happy to announce that Dianne, will have a discussion on the fallowing topics:

 The affiliate wants and needs to be focused on youth and we could assist in a greater manner than we have so far done, if we want.

I suggest consideration of the following changes:

1. cut back on monthly guest focused conference calls and meet on a quarterly, or less basis for a business meeting or special guest, and

2. continue to raise funds for special events during the affiliates convention, and

3. provide a “special” drawing for one or more youths, perhaps under the age of 18, during the convention. Perhaps$250. or so for their ability to purchase something they want.

I wonder if our division needs to keep our account under the current $1500.? We currently have $2,005.

Here’s a reminder of some of the activities the SD has either helped with or funded these past 9 years:

1. monthly conference calls with a variety of speakers and subjects relevant to seniors’

2. free chair yoga for convention attendees 2025,

3. paid half for DJ last years dance following banquet and dance instruction for Texas 2 step, Rumba box step and Cha Cha;

4. provided free braille lessons for 5 years;

5. participated in the 2 Bell Academy - one in Wichita and 1 in KC area.

6. yearly participation in the Washington Seminars and well as making the DC appointments,

7. Organized and provided hands on intro to blindness skills for Wichita community prior to annual convention.

8. sponsered a senior a couple of times for the annual virtual senior’s training through the NFB national SD.

9. Brailled many materials for the SD and state affiliate.

Did I leave anything out?

Fund raising through:

Schwan's Home delivery program,

raffles

auctions

I suggest we consider both a raffle this year as well as a 50/50 drawing.

I’m really proud of what we have thus far accomplished and hope we can continue to reach out to seniors facing blindness and vision loss as well as being relevant and helpful to the affiliate.

I look forward to your thoughts and ideas.

Dianne H.
