	Hello MFBKS family,

The Senior’s Division makes the following exciting contributions for the upcoming state convention…you won’t want to miss this one!

In 1940, the NFB was founded by Dr. Jacobus tenBroek. His son, Dutch tenBroek lives in the KC area and will speak to us on Saturday, November 14th. This is going to be a fantastic, once in a life time opportunity for us. This is thinks to Jody and Don Mulik who met Dutch tenBroek prior to their marriage around 10 years ago. They called Dutch, who very much remembered them as Jody had asked if by bringing her Perkin’s Brailler, it would be disruptive because of the noise…Dutch said he knew all about the brailler as his dad was blind and, by the way, the founder of the NFB.

Check out a short overview of Jacobus tenBroek on YOU Tube…I found this at
jacobus tenbroek and the nfb on you tube. Son, Dutch is also on this video as well as former NFB president, Mark Maurer. Dr. Maurer is, by the way, a member of the Senior’s Division and participated during the most current meeting in Austin!
Download the following bard book on the life and incredible impact of Jacobus tenBroek

I have also ordered several speeches given by Dr. Jacobus tenBroek available through our NFB store. They are currently updating the braille to UEB. They will ship to us in time for the convention.

I will forward a selection of on line available articles, thanks to Peggy Chong…watch for that in a following e mail.

I hope you have stayed with me so far! Next exciting thing the NFBKS Senior’s Division is doing for the upcoming convention, is making available, 3 cash drawings for $100.00 each to be awarded at Saturdays’ lunch to attending youths 21 and younger. Some nice walking around money!

The seniors will also have another awesome raffle! More on this later.
Please watch for the forwarded info from Peggy Chong, our friend and NFB researcher from Colorado who found these important articles for us.

This is going to be our best ever convention! Make sure you get there…
Dianne
