If the request you send for confirmation is being returned as as invalid, then I guess something is happening in your system to invalidate it, when you start the process of replying to the email. Perhaps check for any virus checking reports to the email, and
if present, remove them. The email must not be altered from its original posting in any way.

The email also offers the option to go to the Freelists site and to confirm your wish to join by activation on the appropriate page. Perhaps try activating the link given in the request for confirmation email, or just paste that address into your browser, and
confirm your request online. <br>

There are many lists on Freelists in a variety of categories. I would advise<br>
using the search on key-words method below to identify lists in areas of<br>
potential interest. <br>

I have tried plan B for both of you, that is the following steps, which<br>
should have sent an email to you from Freelists. Note, this method is a good<br>
alternative to join a Freelists group if the usual email subscription fails.<br>
#1. Go to the site: <br>

<a href="http://www.freelists.org">www.freelists.org</a><br>
<br>
and enter on the link: Find, join or leave a list. <br>
<br>
2. Activate the first form on the page and enter an appropriate search term<br>
I chose the word, cooks. If not familiar with Freelists, one could also<br>
enter the search word, blind, and explore the responses. <br>
<br>
3. As it happens, there is only 1 link offered for the key-word search,<br>
cooks. Enter on this link to arrive on the blindcooks home page. Many more<br>
for the key-word, blind. <br>
<br>
4. Enter the appropriate email address as the first form requests. It is<br>
possible to enter the address of another person, as I did twice. <br>
<br>
5. Select the option, subscribe, from the drop-down list. This choice is<br>
perhaps always the top of the list. <br>
<br>
6. Send the form, and the email address entered should receive an email<br>
seeking confirmation to join <br>
