It will be announced when the date has been finalized. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;punctuation-wrap:simple;vertical-align:baseline'>Dianne Hemphill reported on her experience at the seniors week at the CCB. Their were 6 senior attendees including Dianne. The CCB senior week program is held twice a year. The week consists of 4 days intense training under sleep shades. The training consisted of white cane travel. This included taking the bus everyday to and from center, to the store for shopping and for leisure. The attendees also prepared meals, they were introduced to braille and iphone training. The senniors also participated in a philosophy class. Dianne stated that she and the other attendees had a wonderful experience. The program costs the out of state individual $250.00 for the week. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;punctuation-wrap:simple;vertical-align:baseline'>Dianne is energized and inspired after her experience in Colorado to facilitate the development of a Seniors Division in Kansas. She announced that their will be a conference call Monday evening, September 12, 2016. Further details on the conference call can be found on home-on-the-rage in a message from Dianne. Tom is working with a young man named Preston, who is attending chiropractic school in Oklahoma. The school has a program for students who are attending but struggling with the coarse work. Preston was placed in this program before he even began his classes. Talk about low expectations being placed on someone. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;punctuation-wrap:simple;vertical-align:baseline'>Tom is also working with Kristan Boreman of Wichita. She has a son beginning kindergarten who has been placed in the special education class, instead of being main streamed. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;punctuation-wrap:simple;vertical-align:baseline'> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:6.0pt;punctuation-wrap:simple;vertical-align:baseline'>Luke announced that the National Association of Blind Students (NABS) will be having a fund raising/out reach in October. The plan is to have a White Cane Relay at 8 different colleges across the country. One of the Colleges will be Wichita State University (WSU) around the first week in October. The White Cane Relay will consist of teams of 4. It will take place on the campus. Each team member will be given a section of a course to walk while under sleep shades with a white cane. Teams will pay an entry fee of $100 and raise money by getting donations. Prior to the relay the teams will receive cane training and other blind skill instruction. Luke will need volunteers from the NFBKS to help with logistics of the relay.
