I knew Tom, just a little over a year, but in that time, he had a big influence on me. when I attended State convention last year, he was one of the main reasons I joined the NFB of Kansas (Johnson-Wyandotte chapter). We had similar experiences and desires in wanting to improve services in Kansas that benefited the disabled and blind community. I was excited as Tom became my mentor, helping me to participate and do what I can, in achieving that goal and helping build the Kansas Federation.<o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><span> </span>I was especially blessed that when I attended the 2023 Washington DC group. Tom and I were roommate for the entire trip. I got to know a lot about Tom, like how he could not go to sleep until he spoke with his wife, Linda, his love of God, and great faith. As well as his love and dedication to the NFB. Each night as we spoke, I was amazed at all of his stories, and the accomplishments, he achieved on behalf of the blind community throughout his life. He will be missed and I can say we lost a good friend and I, a great mentor.<o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">I will continue to send my prayers out to Tom’s family and all who knew him.
