I think the opposite might also be true.  Sometimes therapists might believe
something is related to blindness when it is not and concentrate too much on
this characteristic when giving therapy.  Too little attention is not a good
thing, but neither is too much.  If something is related to my blindness, or
might be related, I'd love to explore this in therapy.  But, to me, if
everything I say is met with a "that's probably because you're blind"
response, I need to find a new therapist.

Hi JD and other list members,

I couldn't agree more.  If clinicians who are providing therapy are 
unfamiliar with the NFB philosophy or don't have a positive attitude about 
the potential of blind individuals, vulnerable folks could be receiving 
treatment that is detrimental or damaging.
