[humanser] newly blind

James, I stated that the newly blind might, and in many cases do, need
cognitive therapy at the onset of their disability. However, once they are
back to a point where they can function normally and make decisions for
themselves the therapy was successful. At that point intensify the voc
rehab and help them develop new goals and skills. The program my colleague
and I are trying to start has the goal of our clients becoming autonomous
people with the ability to live a fulfilling life. At one point I mentioned
to him that we should throw parties when each person goes out on their own
and no longer needs our services. Judith
