Hi. My name is Kathy McGillivray. I have made a last-minute decision to be
at convention this year so will hopefully connect with some of you there.
My undergraduate degree is in Pastoral Studies and I was a campus minister
for several years. Then, I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from
the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. I spent several years
as the adult services coordinator for the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota
providing advocacy, running support groups, etc. I then was a disability
specialist at the University of Minnesota, concentrating my work with
students with mental health disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and
blindness/visual impairment. For the past ten years, I have worked as the
director of Disability Services at Bethel University, in St. Paul Minnesota.
DisabilityServices in higher ed offers a lot of variety including some
counseling, program development, administration, legal compliance,
negotiation, training, and consulting. While I wasn't thinking I would work
in the disability services arena when I was in college, it has turned out to
be good.
See you in Dallas!
Kathy McGillivray
