Hi David:
I do not do home visits now, but in the past, yes. I found the experience very important in my learning and in developing my framework for treatment.
In Brooklyn, NYC, I worked in preventive services, helping families stay together avoiding sending the children into foster care. At least half my visits needed to be in people's homes and some Brooklyn neighborhoods were not used to a tall white man walking around their neighborhoods with a long white cane. Locating the homes was my largest challenge and I needed to plot my travel plans well prior to my visits. Fortunately the public transportation was excellent. I recall long subway rides between the frequent and Coney Island areas of Brooklyn.
More recently I worked in Assisted Living Facilities and in Skilled Nursing Homes and there, too, I visited people in their homes, their shared rooms.
So, David, what's the question?

I need to know about anyone doing home visits as part to their jobs. It is extremely important.
Each day is a precious gift
