[humanser] home visits

I worked as a rehabilitation counselor and teacher for the state of
Minnesota for over 31 years, and always did home visits. First I used
volunteer drivers, and later the state paid for them. Now I'm starting my
own business as a rehabilitation teacher, and will be visiting homes. I will
pay drivers to take me to my appointments, as most of them are not where
there is bus service, or where bus service would take too much time.

I have not conducted home visits within my professional experiences but also
would benefit from knowing who is traveling to people's homes, how it works
and how traveling and transporting clients within a Case Management capasity
works for those of you doing that. I am still looking for a job (over 6
months) and fear the worst because I am avoiding applying to most CM jobs as
it is a requirement that you have a valid Class D Wisconsin Driver's license
and good driving history. I know there is much discussion around this topic
but I would really appreciate any insight.

Warmly,
Leslie Penko, MSSA, CAPSW

I need to know about anyone doing home visits as part to their jobs. It is
extremely important.
Each day is a precious gift

Hi Everyone!

I'm looking for your advice.
I'm a computer programmer, but this occupation became a torture sinse I had
to switch to the screen reader.
I currently possess M.S. in Mathematics and teaching.
I would like to work with people rather than with the computers.
I would be happy to work as a rehabilitation or addiction counselor, or
something similar. But I cann't spend 2 years getting a degree in
psychology, I'm not that young any more.
My question is - where to acquire the necessary skills as soon as possible?
I'll really appreciate your advice.

Sincerely,
Anna
