 REHABILITATION COUNSELOR

 

 

BASIC JOB SUMMARY:    The Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for
implementing rehabilitation-counseling services for SAAVI’s vocational
rehabilitation consumers within a day-based and residential comprehensive
program.  The counselor will facilitate assessments, develop and monitor
comprehensive rehabilitation plans, and provide individual and group
adjustment counseling to blind transition and adult aged students. SAAVI is
seeking candidates who are able to serve as a competent role model. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:           Rehabilitation Team Leader

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:        None

full-TIME POSITION

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

*        Certified rehabilitation counselor, or

*        Licensed Clinical social worker, or 

*        License Clinical Counselor, or

*        Working toward any of the above  

*        At least three years directly working with individuals who are
blind or visually impaired preferred

*        At least 1 year providing individual or group counseling preferred 

*        Excellent organizational and program development skills. 

*        Excellent public speaking and written and verbal communication
skills 

*        Highly energetic, dynamic and self directed

*        Ability to incorporate one's theoretical counseling approach within
a time limited session structure, as well as within the client/counselor
contract. 

*        Strong relationship building skills

*        Ability to work autonomously and with a team utilizing problem
solving, critical thinking skills

*        Strong teamwork and ability to incorporate macro and micro systems
simultaneously
