[humanser] Requesting feedback on how to handle attending training sessions

This is something that I've encountered frequently because I've been to a
few trainings since I moved to the Boston area, and I am also facing the
same issue again because I need to do orientation trainings for my MSW
internship in a couple weeks.

Like others have said, I would ask for the materials ahead of time. In the
case of the orientation trainings for my internship, I contacted the
individual in human services who is coordinating the trainings. It is
sometimes tricky to know who to ask because some trainings don't have
particular people who are in charge of organizing the presentations. For
example, I attended a month-long training about domestic violence recently,
and the presenters were 4 different domestic violence-related organizations
who did not have access to each other's materials. In that case, I did ask
each presenter individually to please send me a copy of their powerpoints.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Hi,

My philosophy is that no question is silly if you are not sure of the
answer. Plus it gives the list a chance to share ideas, as we may not all
agree. In this case, it seems that we do.

In my experience, presenters appreciate being given a heads up on providing
any accommodations of alternative media; since not everyone thinks of that
in advance.

Thank you very much for your input. This is what my gut instinct was, but I
wanted to make sure that it was an appropriate thing to do. Now thinking
about it my question seems kind of silly but I'm learning as I go. :)
