I just wanted to say congratulations to Mary. I know this has been a
difficult fight for you but, it's almost over. I'm so glad that the Human
Services Division and you took the right steps to get it done. I know this
will really help many other people planning to take licensing exams. It's
amazing how things go when people stand up and say that an issue is
unacceptable. I know this issue has been there for many years and now it's
on the verge of being changed. Wow! That's great!

Regards,

Denise

Mary,
Please enjoy every precious moment with your granddaughter. Such moments are
few and far between and we have to make the very most of these times when we
are privileged to have them. Enjoy!

Hi Mary,

Thank you so much for your update!! This is great news!! There are a few
other cases of this nature being looked at through legal counsel and I am
looking forward to the upcoming updates.

Thank you for your kind words. The Policy and Laws Committee will be
meeting soon. I'll be sending out an email in this regards but that will
come later since my granddaughter just called and will be at my door in a
few minutes. My favorite time of the week!

Congratulations on your victory!!
Merry

Hello all,

I wanted to share the latest on my dilemma with the licensure testing and
the accessibility difficulties. I was contacted by legal counsel for the NFB
shortly after my disclosure on this list. Attorney Sidhu vetted my concerns
and offered various options for support. We agreed that she would first
contact the vendor and board with notification of support and legal guidance
to the decision-making bodies. Prior to that letter being sent, a meeting
had already been scheduled between the Federation legal counsel and the
vendor to work through the issues. Fortunately, prior agreements had been
made that included productive application of JAWS and the situation appears
to be more one of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing;
thus, there is a great likelihood that I will be able to take my exam with
the preferred accommodations in a timely manner. A second attorney will
represent my case and has agreed to see it through through fruition. I am on
the verge of exhaling. Having said that, I know that this issue spans
farther than my immediate need and I have articulated to the attorneys the
need for a protocol that will address the credentialing process for
professionals, no matter what discipline. I trust that we are all mindful of
the critical nature of this situation and that our voices will continue to
ring with this demand for equity in this credentialing. Please continue to
involve ourselves with the range of committees that Mary, our illustrious
new president, has brought to our attention and invitation.

All the best to you all,

Mary Tatum Chappell, Psy. D.
