Hi Jeannie,

Thanks for sharing this with our members. It is awesome that your case will
be a ground breaking one with another entity. The more different entities
that are introduced to our organization and the expectations of its members
the further we extend the change. Thanks for your forward movement!

Please let us know how this progresses.

I was going to wait until I heard from the attorney again this upcoming
week, but now that we are sharing I will let the membership know that I,
too, have the support from the National office and the legal team of Brown,
Goldstein, Levy, and Weisbaum. Sharon Weisbaum called me Friday and seemed
optimistic since she has a relationship with Pearson Vu attorney's. So, as
this progresses I will keep everyone updated.

I am so proud to be a member of the NFB and a part of our fabulous,
magnificent division!

Thank you all!!
Merry

Subject: [humanser] Legal Counsel

Hello all-

After having seen Mary's update, I felt obliged to do the same in relation
to the NBCC and the National Counselors Examination with regard to my
application for the exam and my request for accommodations. .

I spoke to Meghan Sidhu and Dr. Maurer the week before last about the issue
and what steps we had all taken in efforts of following the necessary
requirements for requesting accommodations for the examinations in our
chosen fields. Like Mary, I was again contacted by Meghan and an attorney
from Brown, Goldstein &Levy.

The attorney contacted me again after having first spoken to the General
Counsel for the NBCC. Keep me in your thoughts. The General counsel for the
NBCC has requested my Proof of Disability, a copy of my disability
Accommodations Letter from graduate school and the documentation from ETS
associated with my having taken the GRE with JAWS(yes, it was before they
used their own self-voicing system). the attorney seems moderately hopeful.
However, she indicated that the other two exams that are in question at this
moment have an element of a prior relationship with the NFB, but we do not
with the NBCC.

I want to echo many of Mary's thoughts about the Human Services Division and
would also like to say that I am so thankful for all of you. We do have
incredible leadership but we also have a great group of like minded,
committed blind mental health professionals who choose to be a part of
something bigger than themselves.

I know that I am not alone, not as a human being; not as a blind individual
and most certainly, not as a blind mental health professional!

Thank you all.

Best ,

Jeannie
