[humanser] Drivers license requirement for employment

Serena,

If it were me, I'd politely then ask him a few questions.
You could say something like,
"I read the job description and no mention of driving was listed. What
driving is required in this job?
Where do I have to go?"
Depending on his response, then offer solutions.
If the area has decent public transit, offer to use that.
Also, I do not know much about this field, but in some areas, they work in
pairs. Could a coworker be your driver as you both go to the sites you need
to go to? Is it possible to eliminate some driving by having clients come to
your office? Probably not, but just saying.
Is it possible to decrease the driving by working with clients via
technology such as skype?
I know the initial visits require paperwork, so that should be done in
person.
But after that, I don't see why you just couldn't do it via computer, unless
you have to observe clients at home.

Sorry to hear they acted like this. The employer should ask you questions
they ask other applicants.

Ashley

Hi all,

Has anyone encountered something similar to this? ... I had a job
interview yesterday to be a case manager at a partial care program for
the mentally ill. As soon as I walked in, the director said the job
required driving. He asked me some relevant questions about my
resume, but mostly asked how I'd do documentation and other things as
a blind person. He again reiterated how the job supposedly required
driving. That was it. Driving wasn't mentioned anywhere in the
newspaper ad where I found the job posting! **frown**
