[humanser] recluting patients?

I have gotten the majority of my clients through Psychology Today. My first
six months was free and now I pay $29.95 per month. Well worth the
investment!

Geraldo,

Were you previously in a practice with other therapists? I definitely don't
know for sure, but I think there are a lot of therapists (and private
practice professionals in general) who start off in a setting that is
already established in order to build clientele. Networking could be prudent
as well. It might be effective to ask other mental health professionals whom
you know for client referrals. Personally, I've always found therapists via
the list of professionals whom my insurance covers.

I know that the Psychology Today website is frequently used by professionals
and consumers. I think mental health professionals can advertise on there.

Geraldo,

I'm just starting my own practice as well, and I haven't had much success
yet but, I'm just starting to market. I'm also signed on to a facebook group
for beginning counselors so I have received good tips which include:
Blogging, you tube videos, facebook, and other social media, your own
website, you can try e-mail marketing, online counseling listings, trying to
get in to talk to general doctors or psychiatrist, brochures, business
cards. I haven't had much luck with leaving brochures in the doctor's
waiting rooms. I hope some of this info works. I myself haven't tried all of
these ideas yet.
