[humanser] Director of Residential Services?

Car,
I too am a brain injury survivor and, like you, I worked with RT
professionals in similar fashion. Because the brain injury resulted in
cortical blindness and a broad range of impairments--no longer able to walk,
talk, breathe independently, and so much more, part of the rehab therapy was
dining out in restaurants learning the basics (feeding myself, drinking hot
beverages, ordering from the menu, etc.) and all of that was with the RT. I
now work with RT professionals as I am the Supervisor of Psychotherapeutic
Services in a training hospital. I am always intrigued by the stories of
motivation, trauma, and triumph of others. I think that was the reason for
my inquiry. Thanks for stepping up and sharing.
Mary Tatum Chappell, Psy. D.

Good morning, Mary and others,

I don't know if my experience exists beneath the umbrella of RT,
perhaps not, but at age 19 I received some tramatic brain damage and during
a 6-month hospital stay, the PT' had therapy sessions both in a swimming
pool and on an exercise bike. Have a feeling though, that these therapies
served other functions unique to brain injury.
Someone with more knowledge of this, hopefully, will stand and be counted?
