Sarah,
Your candor and efficiency are appreciated. Any considerations of
relocation? We are currently recruiting for RT on the inpatient Adult
Psychiatric unit and, as my work with the ARU, adult rehabilitation unit
increases and we strengthen our TBI and Stroke certifications and programs,
I suspect further hiring will follow. We are in the DC, Maryland, Virginia
metropolitan area with good public transit. Just sharing.

Honestly, I chose RT because at the time I didn't want to be in school for
six years to become a PT.  I fell in love with the field while in school,
and have been doing it ever since 2004.

Practicing in Blind Rehab was a different story.  I fought to get my
position upgraded to a RT position for more then five years, and it finally
was with career banding across the state.  Now, I am one of two Recreational
Therapists who work at he NC Rehab Center for the Blind.

Sarah,
Curiosity, what took your interest to RT and how long have you been in
practice? I know your post was seeking opportunity resources and my hope is
that the list will support that. I am intrigued by Recreational Therapy as I
also work with RT professionals on the multidisciplinary team at the
hospital. It can be powerful for self and others to discuss options in the
broad range of Human Service disciplines and applications. Hope my question
does not feel intrusive.
