Greeting of the Season to All,

Thank you all for your input and responses. I am positive your input will
guide the Board whether to move forward on this topic. I will share with
you my opinion on the topic.

My opinion is that mental health counselors, clinical social workers,
massage therapists, genetic counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc.
are well within the realm of healthcare providers. As a clinical social
worker I have worked diligently to become licensed (that goal is in the near
future) and with that license I will then be able to accept health
insurance. My supervisor once said to me that many professionals in the
field tend to minimize the importance of their profession; he ended the
conversation with "we are clinicians". I realize that this division
encompasses other types of therapists i.e. art, music, drama, but these are
still part of the health care environment.

With all of this being said, someone brought up another idea for a name and
although this may open up a new can of worms the activity of this list has
been enjoyable to watch. The name suggested was: The National Association
of Blind Healthcare Professionals of the National Federation of the Blind.
Just another idea/thought to put out to you all.

Wishing you all a terrific Tuesday,

Merry Schoch
