Subject: [humanser] Maryland LAW Test

Hi Everyone,

I want to update you on my progress with my special accommodations for me
Maryland Law Test for Professional Counselors and Therapists. I needed the
assistance of legal counsel when the Board of Professional Counselors and
Therapists informed me that they did not have JAWS and were not going to
acquire JAWS for one person.

Although the 36-multiple choice question was paper and pencil for everyone
else. I did not want a scribe due to my Deaf-Blind and my comfort with JAWS
and a Braille display rather than communicating with a scribe. I did not
want to set a precedent of reversing my decision after receiving my
preferred accommodation for the National Counseling Examination.

The attorney contacted the Executive director of the BoPC and I arrangement
were made for me to take the test as planned on August 27.
On Friday August 28, I learned I passed the Maryland Law test. Once the
receive my remittance of my licensing fee, the BOPC will mail me the License
Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) license to me.

Now I need to worry about finding a job to complete my 3000 clinical
supervised hours and acquiring my CEUs.

I am so thankful to God for helping me get this far. After losing my sight
and hearing and my graduate school would not allow me to continue in the
doctoral program at the time due to health problem. But God is faithful. He
provided a way for me at other institutions once I had learned the blindness
skills, acquired the necessary adaptive technology (including hearing aids
and FM system) and the NFB taught me its philosophy and Braille so that I
could walk with confidence and be empowered.

Thank you all.
Janice
