No, you don't need to know sign language. Since social
workers/counselors have to be comfortable with working with people of
various cultures, however, it would be important to know how deaf
people communicate via interpreters and how deaf-blind people use
support service providers (ssps) to assist them with communicating
with the public. I don't want to write a novel here, so if you'd like
any more info, feel free to write me offlist.
