[humanser] Sex education for blind college student

I am completely baffled by the moderator. I would appreciate a response from her. I am simply trying to help a blind client – as a blind person myself – to find anatomically correct models for sex education. Why on earth would this be inappropriate?

If I read any more inappropriate post such as this I will request subscribers be permanently removed from this list. If I were this child's parent I would be absolutely mortified that anyone would post such a suggestion out to the public.

> Gee Karen, do you know a man that she can get her hands on? Smile. When I took a class like that, I had not gotten to know any men up close and personal, yet. I have been married 42 years now and have 6 children so, we have had a lot of hands on activities. Smile. Levity aside, it would be great if she fully understood male and female anatomy, but for the purpose of passing the class, she needs to focus on exactly what is necessary to pass the tests. Probably, verbal diagram description will work just fine. Then she can concentrate on the other part. When I took my sexual education college class I had no idea what the male genatalia was like at all. So I just learned how and why it worked and gave it back to the instructor in the correct order. The only bad part was that I learned it so well for the test that when I met my husband and became involved with him, I kept having these annoying thoughts of what was going on physiologically in the back of my mind; but those thoughts went away after a while.

Each time the instructor does not make a particular point verbally clear, she should immediately ask that the point be made verbally clear. Also, if any exams have diagrams in any answers to questions, I would suggest that you tell her to request that the instructor allow her to answer the question in written words rather than diagrams. Yes, we do live in a sighted world and need to do things in that medium as far as possible, however, the important thing is that we are able to understand as well as sighted people, the educational content of college classes.
