Hi lisa,
The paid reader should get HIPPA training to keep the client information confidential.
After the training they should sign a statement.
I tried to send this information to your work email and it came back as undeliverable.

Hi Lisa,
I agree with Yasmin. After the paid reader is trained, you could request that she sign a statement indicating that she will keep client information confidential.

Hi Lisa,
HIPPA is a little sensitive issue. The Paid reader should have HIPPA training to make sure that they do not spill any information about the clients.
As long as the reader is trained and the employer agrees you should have no problem. Many agencies offer the training online so it should not be a problem.
Let us know if you have any road blocks. Are you coming to the convention. I Would like to see you there.

Sit down with your boss and ask them to assist you with coming up with accommodation. Under the ADA, and Title one, the employer is responsible for accommodations. with Sense your suggestions were refused, then the ball would be in their court. Write down your ideas, and make sure that you can't come up with a another way, or that the accommodations are necessary, which in your case, I have no doubt that they are; your savvy. But, I'm covering all bases. Use the job accommodation network, (JAN) and the JAN letter to help you. I think I sent it to you, but if you need it, then ask, and I'll send it again.
If I'm wrong about anything I've suggested, then someone on the list, please feel free to correct me.
Justin

Sent from my iPhone hello,
Can someone please speak to the issue of H I PPA and the use of paid readers
in the workplace?
This topic came up this afternoon with my employer. I am challenged with
hand written information on some documents that I work with multiple times a
week. A natural support might include asking employee to read something.
However a few weeks ago when I approached my supervisor and brought up the
possibility of asking other employees to help me with these types of tasks
she informed me that we were spread too thin and that I was to come to her.
Our schedules do not always sink. Therefore well this is a good idea it has
not been a practical idea. I brought up the idea of hiring someone to read
for me to hours a week I only work 26 hours a week. I have someone in mind
someone who I've started working with on stuff outside of work that is I
have paid someone to help me with personal stuff. My supervisor took it to
her boss and basically it was to be towed under the auspice is that H I PPA
regulations would be violated.
Please let me know how you handle the responsibility of dealing with
paperwork; H I PPA regulations and staff were paid reader assistance.
Thank you. From Lisa Irving
