Hello Jeannie,

Sorry this is late getting to you.

I have been providing supervision for registered clinical interns for many
years, first in New York and now in Florida. I currently am supervising 11
folks between work and private practice - quite a lot of folks.

I enjoy the work. Helping folks adjust from being a student to employment
is stressful for a number of reasons; you can be of great assistance. A
warning, do not become their psychotherapist, refer them out for that work.
Shaping someone to develop a clinical background & outlook takes time and
effort. Some folks are too gung-hoe, some too shy. Some will debate you,
some will worship you.

I find that presenting cases to me or to a supervision group helps a
clinician to formulate the case more successfully and leads to better case
outcomes.

Enjoy this next step in your professional development.

Colleagues,

I received this message today and thought to share. Also, I would love to
hear from anyone who is currently or has previously done clinical
supervision. In January, I became certified to be a Clinical Supervisor and
have just contracted with my first newly graduated candidate for licensure.
I would appreciate, as always, any insight, tips recommendations, etc. that
you would give. I look forward to seeing everyone in Orlando!

Warmly,

Jeannie
