I am excited and a bit anxious about my upcoming interview tomorrow morning.
I am interviewing for a part-time position in mental health. Specifically, I
recently applied for a job as a Peer Support/Peer Liaison. The job in tales
attending county meetings, contributing to a newsletter, working with peers,
and gathering and providing resources. This is right up my alley. Re-wind
one week. Last weekend I applied online for this job. There are web access
barriers/formatting issues with the online application. The first time I
completed the application it honestly took me six hours. I reached out to a
couple of friends and to local organizations supporting the blind. Well, I
was on my own for completing the problematic application. I ended up using a
powerful magnifier to read the questions and JAWS to complete my answers.
Then, the information disappeared. I went through the online application a
second time. I used a different web browser and created an account. (That
option wasn't given the first time). I still had to climb on top of my
computer screen to read it. Even so, I ended up contacting the company's
Talent Coordinator. That's another story. I'm not thrilled with her
"resolutions" to the company's web issues, however, I'm focused on the
bottom line; I want that job. Now I'm on my way to an impromptu visit to the
dog wash. 

Please share any wisdom about addressing disability-related questions. How
does one gently insert responses to the always asked question, what
accommodations, if any, will you need.? There is some traveling throughout
the county. Do I bring up swapping duties for some of the travel? Has anyone
here ever worked or volunteered for Recovery Innovations, now Recovery
Innovations, International?
