HHi All,

So many of you have given practicle advice and great tips. I thought that
I'd update you on my new job. What I like the most about my job are the
people I work with. I work for an open-minded employer. Today, I sent a note
of explaination to someone in Human Resources because I've just scratched
the surface in getting started with onboarding training, something newbies
were supposed to complete within the first 30 days of employment. The
response I got blew me away. The woman told me that she'd do what ever she
could do to help. Wow!

I really enjoy working with my co-workers. I never thought having to do
paperwork could be a fun thing. Today, I completed my own Excel time sheet.
It's the first thing I've done using Excel. Yeah, I had to go back and re-do
stuff. At one point my supervisor offered to take over and do the sheet. I
stuck it out and I'm glad that I did. I don't know much more about how to
use Excel, but using the Tab key worked for the time being.

There was a miscommunication earlier this week that resulted in me missing a
community-based meeting. I thought for sure that I'd get written up; I
didn't. I am so used to working for rigid close-minded employers. I'm
telling you, what a breath of fresh airworking for my employer.

We're working on the mileage reimbursement. I've got the Excel sheet my
supervisor provided. Now, the trick is to get Uber to fill out the required
info. Well, one step at a time.

On Saturday, I worked at a resource fair. I got soaked and so did our
handouts. However, thanks to Yasmin, I put out candy in noisey plastic
wrappers. Our table happened to be near a loud speaker so, I didn'talways
hear people taking candy a nd I had a hard time carrying on a conversation
with inquisitive folks.

This morning my supervisor and I met with the Director for Counseling
services where I attend church. We shared information about our program, our
philosophy toward mental wellness and our resources. I learned a lot and my
supervisor really appredciated what Icontributed.

All-in-all I really love my job. Oh yeah, last night after work I did
grocery shopping. I wasn't anxiousabout purchasing produce and fish and meat
because I can afford to eat the way I want to.

Tomorrow I'm off, that is, for most of the day. I'm attending a mental
health meeting tomorrow night. The rest of the day means running around
getting life done outside of work.

From,

Lisa Irving
