This whole world of applying online and buzzwords that all this is very overwhelming for someone who hasn’t had to look in a while. I won’t go into details as to why since I wasn’t working but part of it was medical.

So many big question is this: functional resume versus chronological resume? What are people looking for in the human services field specifically? I have lots of volunteer experience that fills in the gap‘s where I didn’t work so to meet a functional resume would hide the fact that I haven’t worked since 2010 at least. Four pair anyhow.

My other big question is when you’re trying to set up the resume and most of your experiences in the past that would qualify you for the job why would you want to leave it off? What I’m confused about is that yes it makes sense that something I did 20 years ago probably isn’t current which would make it less relevant but how do you just leave off an experience that might sure you have skills? It’s been years since I’ve taken education class but if I wanted to work with children rather than the senior citizens I mostly worked with wouldn’t this be advantageous for me? Just as advantageous as teaching Sunday school? I understand that every application and every resume hast to be tied to the particular job you’re applying for. But I’m just trying to get something generic with all my expenses together so creating these specialize resumes will be easier. If I do it in the right format to begin with, then it’s just a cut and paste  job. IVR counselor, my help her from the epilepsy foundation who is a career counselor skilled person, and I disagree.

I don’t think chronological make sense. Please help me out of this! Job searching is tough enough one year older. Thank you!
