Thank you for posting this question-I was just having a conversation with my
personal care agency's Program Superviser about the hypothetical scenario of
hiring a totally blind caregiver; she seemed to be reluctant; but, I firmly
believe that adaptations can be made; furthermore, I believe that a
resolution to some of the issues about which you express concern could
potentially be addressed through concerted efforts by all parties involved
in the provision of personal care services to build a strong rapport and
have open lines of communication and honest dialogue.
Sincerely,
Cory McMahon

Hello All, I was wondering if anyone on this list has worked with those with
disabilities before? How did you provide personal care for them, example
toyleting, changing, feeding, bathing showering? How did you feed them if
?you were totally blind? How did you know if they swallowed the food? How
did you know if there is food on the spoon especially if it is something
like soup? How did you know where there mouth is if you can't touch there
face? Thanks all Daniella
