[HumanSer] An Ethics Question

This is an area that can be challenging. The NASW Code of Ethics does not
speak only to publishing or posting but to "involvement". Some groups in
social media will have membership lists that are publicly viewable.
Belonging to a group that is promoting making English the official language
of the United States may affect your ability to work with someone who is
Latinx, even if English is their preferred language. Belonging to a group
that is strongly aligned with the Seventh Day Adventist religious faith may
make it difficult for Roman Catholic clients to connect with you given the
SDA historical (and perhaps present) stance that the pope is related to the
beast in Revelations. These are two examples where merely belonging, and
not what you post, could affect your ability to work with particular
clients. Note also that the ethical standard is to be aware of this
possible effect. It does not say that you cannot have these involvements,
but that would be a subsequent ethical consideration.
