[Iabs-talk] Using amtrak for convention travel

Hello Everyone,

I have some potential bad news for those traveling to Springfield for the
convention.

If you were planning to take the Texas Eagle from Chicago on October 7
atwhich normally leaves Chicago between 1:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon, you
will not be able to do so.  This is because Union Pacific who owns much of
the track is performing track work between Springfield and Alton on that
day.  Lincoln Service trains are running however.  That would mean that the
available options are at 9:25 A.M. or 5:15 P.M.  It would seem safe to
assume that these same options would be available on Friday, October 8.
However, you should check with Amtrak before arriving at that conclusion.
