Is there anyone who can obtain information on this particular session and
bring it back for the Lighthouse from National?

Subject: FW: [Nfbnet-members-list] INTRODUCTION TO ORACLE SIEBEL CALL CENTER
Hello Patti,
I hope you're doing well and enjoying your summer. I had a question about
something I recently read about the upcoming NFB convention - which sounds
incredible, by the way - and I thought perhaps you could direct me to the
right person. Earlier this week, I saw the following message on the
NFB-Rehab listserv about a session at the convention about potential job
opportunities for people who are blind in the call center work. This really
caught my interest because my department at the Lighthouse has been working
on developing and expanding our Call Center program, which right now
provides paid transitional employment and internships for some of our
clients. I was hoping to get more information about this session, if
possible, so that we could learn how the team at Oracle Siebel is setting up
their operation and how we can hopefully bring similar opportunities to
blind job-seekers here in Chicago. I regret that I won't be able to attend
the convention myself due to a hectic summer schedule at the Lighthouse, but
I'd love to talk to someone from NFB who might be able to pass along more
information to us about this session in particular. If you have any
suggestions or people you could put me in contact with, I would be most
appreciative.
Thanks!
Kelsey

Subject: Additional text to help promote the Sibel Call Center session
Anne --
Per our call last week, here is some additional text that describes
the intent of the session:
INTRODUCTION TO ORACLE SIEBEL CALL CENTER
This session, to be held at the national convention on Wednesday July
7, is a unique opportunity for you to become aware of potential
career opportunities
working in a Call Center.
Oracle Siebel Call Center products are used by more than 4,000
enterprises and more than 4.6 million business users. Working closely
with executives of
the NFB, we identified this type of application as something that was
particularly well suited for users that are blind, which led to a
multi-year, multi-phase
project by Oracle to enhance the accessibility of the products. This
session, presented by Don Mauck, Accessibility Evangelist at Oracle,
will re-create
a typical transaction between a call center operator and a customer,
and he will discuss detailed operation of the product in conjunction
with a screen
reader. Our goal is to give you a feel for what such a job might be like.
